I Broke Into Your House Last Night

(Josie Sayz: Okay, so we have the radio on (Radio X) every day at work. I am not much of a music person and I haven’t listened to a radio in over ten years, so my knowledge of music is rather limited. I have noticed that a lot of songs seem to be about really weird/random things. The other day Snow Patrol’s ‘Spitting Games’ came on and the opening line is, “I broke into your house last night,” which I thought sounded rather creepy. The more I thought about it, the more I wanted to write my own really odd and random poem, inspired by that line. Here is the outcome.)

I broke into your house last night.
I know you leave the back door open.
It’s 3am, you’re fast asleep.
I know you won’t even hear me sneak.
Everything is still in its place,
Almost as if I never left.
Two years of dust on the fireplace
And that scent, it, still remains.

It’s been a long time, since I’ve seen your face.
My heart flutters, as I wonder around the place.
I wonder if I’ll run into you.
It’s what my heart wants and longs to… do.

Ow-ow
Ow-ow-ow

I climb up the stairs all alone.
I smile at the stain on the top step.
It reminds me what we did back then.
How I wish to do it all again.
I see the bed where we used to lay.
Now you’re snoring all alone.
Everything still looks the same
And my photo’s still in that frame.

It’s been a long time, since I’ve seen your face.
My heart flutters, as I wonder around the place.
Now that I am standing next to you.
My knees tremble and my heart races to… you

It’s been a long time, since I’ve seen your face.
My heart flutters, as I walk around the place.
I didn’t really know what to say to you.
Then I ran away and you didn’t have a clue – ow

Ow-ow
Ow-ow-ow
Ow-ow
Ow-ow-ow

I broke into your house last night.
Knew you’d leave the back door open.
I’d love to stay and watch you sleep.
Memories of you, my heart it wants to keep.

Moonstone Map

(Josie Sayz: One of my favourite authors, Christopher Paolini, has been talking a lot about drawing maps lately, for his new book, and it made me want to share my map for my Moonstone Fortress stories, Saviour of Ships (which can be found here https://josiesayz.blogspot.com/2021/11/mf-saviour-of-ships-1-blackout.html) and Ruler of Seas, which is still a working progress.)

Office Poem

(Josie Sayz: This is the poem that I am going to email to my office, when I leave on Friday.)

The time has come to say goodbye;
My time spent here has flew.
So, I’ll leave you with this poem
And bid you all adieu.
Just because I’m leaving you,
It doesn’t mean we’re through,
Because I have compiled a list
Of things you need to do.

Keep the office clean and tidy.
It isn’t hard to do,
But if you find you’re struggling,
I’ll leave you with a clue.

When using the dishwasher,
Here is your handy guide:
Please, rinse all the cups and glasses,
Before they go inside.
Mugs and glasses on the top shelf,
Please, fill it from the back.
Swill all your bowls and plates then they
Go on the bottom rack.

Keep the office clean and tidy.
Please, clean up as you go.
Don’t forget to recycle and
Return what you borrow.

When filling up the printers,
Don’t leave rubbish on the floor.
Letterhead, A3, plain paper,
Engrossment is tray four.
Close the door of your cabinet,
At the end of each day.
Don’t forget to shut the drawers,
Or you’ll trip up on the way.

Keep the office clean and tidy.
It isn’t hard to do.
If you follow my hints and tips,
It will help all of you.

Return all borrowed stationery,
Don’t leave it on your desk.
By hoarding the office supplies,
You may become a pest.
And make sure your post is ready
In time for half past three.
Ensure special and tracked letters
Are noted clearly.

Keep the office clean and tidy.
Please, clean up as you go.
Leave things as you wish to find them.
And good luck should follow.

I will not miss the bullying,
It’s why I have to go.
The lies and whispered gossiping
Has made me feel quite low.
Just because I have Asperger’s,
Dyslexia and ADD,
Doesn’t mean you can be spiteful
And say hurtful things to me.

Keep the office clean and tidy.
And before I say goodbye,
Just know there are a few of you
Who made me, often, cry.

Let’s end this on a positive;
I want to say thank you,
For all the opportunities,
There have been quite a few.
Some of you I have known longer
And others are quite new.
This message is for everyone:
I will miss all of you.
